The Tokyo Mochi 3 is cute and fun as a gadget, but several flaws really spoil the experience.

The main problem is the gyroscope, which works very poorly: it triggers an animation every 5 to 15 seconds for no apparent reason. It gets annoying fast, especially when the sound is on. What’s badly missing is an option to have it make sound only at startup and stay silent afterwards — because as it stands, the “mute” function cuts the sound completely, which is a shame. A middle ground would be ideal.

The strobe lights are far too strong and, in my opinion, poorly placed: they should be at the back rather than the front. Another annoyance: to reach the buttons (strobe, on/off, mode switching), you have to remove the helmet, which isn’t easy to do. Poor ergonomics.

Finally, the price is too high for a product with this many flaws: CHF 57 (AUD 99) is really expensive.

In the end it’s still a fun, endearing little object — as long as you keep it on mute, otherwise it drives you crazy

Strobes are too bright facing driver and distracting at night… maybe if the leds were RGB and can change brightness would be perfect! N maybe if strobes faced the back instead of front! Or both! I notice one of the led for charging is rgb! So why not all 4? And maybe allow no strobe function but just light up?

Cant change settings with helmet on so if audio is on it gets really annoying fast, would be nice if there was an option for it to cycle some intro noises when it first detects movement and then goes on mute for the rest of the trip, that way you can enjoy the novelty of it saying hello at the start without the distraction.

Better with gen 3 , rechargable! 4 bulbs with different strobe effects are so fun to use with original mochi helmets to help dim the lights or show colors that illuminate well with the futures helmets! I got high hopes for the release of the 3rd gen Bosozoku mochis next!🤙🏾
